I have experience many times in the past where a twig entered the bottom of my safety glasses and got me in the eye. I have had stuff fly back at me at a higher velocity, but nothing to cause injury. The only time I really question the integrity of the Bugz are when making a stump cut with my 046 or 088. For general light tasks in our industry, like tree climbing and trimming, I typically don't worry about a high impact hit in the eyes. but I still feel that they are better than most safety glasses. ![]() Has anyone heard of any serious eye accidents happening from anyone wearing Bugz while doing treework? I have seen some of the Ax-Man characters wearing them which is good because usually those guys don't wear any eye protection. Yes, I know that the faceshield isn't ANSI approved and is not a substitute for proper safety glasses. I do wear a helmet with a face shield, so it gives me a little extra protection when wearing my Bugz. Then the user ends up taking them off and exposing their eyes to additional hazards. My biggest problem with safety glasses is that they fog up no matter what you use and even with the best anti-fogging material, you still end up with condensation on the lenses. ![]() I understand that they do not meet the impact testing and some dust does come through, but I still feel that they are better than most safety glasses. I'm all for wearing the proper PPE in doing treework, but I have a problem with ANSI not allowing Bugz as proper eye wear.
